Booking & Cancellation Policy

Please read this before booking. These policies govern deposits, balance payments and cancellation charges for tours and treks booked through machupicchuonline.com, and form part of our Terms and Conditions.

Booking Machu Picchu Tours & Treks

To confirm any Machu Picchu tour or trek, a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of USD 200 per person is required. It can be paid by card on our online platform (2.9% fee) or by bank transfer (no charge). The deposit cannot be reassigned to another person, reservation or service.

Final Payment

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 24 hours before the tour starts — online (2.9% fee), by bank transfer, or at our Cusco office by card (3.9% fee) or cash (USD, soles or euros). Damaged or torn banknotes are not accepted.

Cancellation Charges (Machu Picchu Services)

4 weeks or more before departure: charge equals the reservation deposit. 48 hours before: 70% of the total tour price. 24 hours or less before: 100% of the total tour price. Machu Picchu services require advance coordination with third parties (entrance tickets, Inca Trail permits, train tickets, hotels); many government-issued services are strictly non-refundable, non-transferable and non-modifiable.

Services Not Related to Machu Picchu

For day tours, transport and Amazon services, a more flexible policy applies: a 40% prepayment confirms the reservation. Cancel 48 hours or more before and the 40% is refunded in full (minus transaction fees); cancel within 48 hours and only 20% is refunded. The balance is due 24 hours before, at the latest 10:00 PM the day prior.

How to Cancel

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to info@machupicchuonline.com and are only valid once acknowledged in writing by Machu Picchu Online.
